This 3-hour session is meant for board directors, executive directors, and senior leaders in the nonprofit sector. Can be hosted in-person or virtually.

Mission and vision statements communicate to others your purpose, goals, and principles. It is essential that they accurately reflect the work the organization does and what it values.

Recalibrate Mission and Vision Session

This facilitated session is designed for organizations that have undergone significant change, are wanting to strengthen or incorporate person-centred language and philosophy, or are looking to refresh and ensure the organization’s mission and vision statements accurately reflect the work being done.

Just as an organization evolves, grows, and changes, so must its mission and vision statements. The inclusive approach used will energize the group, encourage collaboration, and ensure everyone has a shared vision for the future of the organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of hosting the Review and Recalibrate Mission and Vision Session?

This session can engage, motivate, and align the organization’s leadership. As your organization grows, changes, and faces new challenges, it is important to evaluate and consider whether updates to the organization’s mission, vision, and core values are needed.

We have a new executive director and a few new board directors, is this session for us?

Yes! If your organization has undergone significant leadership change, is looking to boost board engagement, or wants to clarify its focus, then this session will provide a collaborative way to ensure everyone has a shared sense of purpose and understanding of the organization’s future.

What is included in the Recalibrate Mission and Vision Session?

This session includes clarifying the organization’s purpose, identifying its values, defining its mission, and determining the direction of the organization’s future. It also promotes critical thinking, examining the organization’s foundational elements, and helps to ensure that everyone is engaged, motivated, and on the same page moving forward.

When can an organization review its mission and vision?

Organizations should regularly review their mission and vision. While often done as part of the strategic planning process, SARC’s Strategic Planning Session includes limited time to reaffirm the mission and vision; however, it is not the only time that it can be done. This session can be hosted any time an organization is considering a philosophy change, or needing extra time to examine, question, review, or refresh the mission and vision.
