Navigating the Threshold: Grief and the End-of-Life Journey
When someone we support begins their end-of-life journey, grief is a present, evolving experience for everyone: the person, their loved ones, and the entire support team.
This webinar is designed for those who are or will be walking alongside people in the final chapter of their lives.
Moving beyond clinical care, we will explore how to nurture healthy grieving processes and cultivate nervous system resilience. Together, we will explore practical, compassionate strategies for supporting the grieving process – both for the people we serve and for ourselves as supporters.
We’ll explore:
- The foundations of grief and loss.
- Grief and loss through the end-of-life journey.
- Nurturing resilience.
- Practical support strategies.
- Meaning-making and legacy.
- Questions and takeaways.
The webinar will hold these values at the heart of everything we discuss:
- Person-directed: Ensuring the people being supported have voice, choice, and control over their lives, including the end-of-life journey
- Compassion: Seeing both self-compassion and compassion for others as essential support skills
- Capability: Direct support professionals are capable of supporting people who are grieving and/or who are at the end of their lives when they have the right knowledge, skills, supports, and resources
