Foundations of Person-centred Practice for Leaders is an online course that is intended for  senior leadership and boards of directors. This course discusses how leadership can impact person-centred practice in the organization and can be accessed at any time and completed at each person’s individual pace (over the 30-day access period).

This course will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Foundations of Person-centred Support for Leaders

An organization cannot have effective operations without effective leadership; yet this is a link that can sometimes be missed or overlooked. Within the nonprofit sector, it is easy for people to make the link between direct support staff and services, and quality of life for the people they support – you see it every day. The link between leadership and quality of life for the people we support may be less obvious, but the importance cannot be overlooked as leaders are the ones who ensure effective operations, establish policies and processes, embed person-centred practice, and set the tone for the organization’s culture.

Whether you are a board director, executive director, or senior manager, this is your opportunity to reflect on and assess where your organization currently is in its person-centred philosophy and approach, and identify areas or ways in which person-centred practice can be built on and improved, as it continues to evolve and progress.

This course provides an overview of person-centred practice, why this approach is integral to supporting people experiencing disability, and how leadership can impact person-centred practice in the organization.

Learners will have 30 days to complete this course.

 

COMPASS funding is available to SARC Regular and Associate Members, as well as Affiliate Members with CLSD funding.

COMPASS funding will cover the registration fees for an unlimited number of employees and/or board directors to take this course.

In order to receive this funding, organizations must:

  1. Register employee(s) at your organization for the course.
  2. Use your COMPASS code at check-out to access this training at no cost.
  3. Have the person complete the immediate session evaluation.
  4. Have the person complete the follow-up session evaluation which will be emailed to them.

As a requirement of CLSD COMPASS funding, SARC must report on training satisfaction rates. As a result, we ask that all learners complete individual program evaluations immediately upon finishing any training, as well as within three (3) to four (4) months of completion. Your feedback will also be used to ensure that SARC continues to provide the best training possible.
