This program is intended for anyone who wants to be certified in first aid and learn the skills needed to provide immediate care for a suddenly ill or injured person until more advanced medical care arrives to take over.

Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C

This course will provide employees with the skills to identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies, and make appropriate decisions for first aid care.

Due to our agreement with the Canadian Red Cross, you must be a SARC Member to register for this program.

Full First Aid Certification

This two-day (2) course can be taken completely in person, or by a blended method of online and in-person training. You will be certified in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C for three (3) years.

First Aid Recertification

After finishing this one-day (1) in-person course, you will be recertified in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C for three (3) years.

If you are from a COMPASS-eligible organization, please know that you need to pay for the course registration fees upfront with the external facilitator and submit the paid invoice and certificate of completion to us for reimbursement – unless you register for and attend a SARC hosted session.

How to Register for Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C

SARC Members have two (2) options for getting employees certified in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C:

1. Register employees through a third-party provider in your area
  • Log into your account on the Manager Resource Area here
    • If you have misplaced your Manager Resource Area login information, click here
  • On the left-hand side categories menu, choose Education and Training
  • From the drop-down menu, select First Aid Training
  • Click on the private URL to be directed to a page where you can select your date range and location
    • Using the private URL will ensure that you receive the preferred pricing

You will be required to pay upfront.

Organizations that are eligible for COMPASS can submit a copy of the paid invoice, as well as the employee’s Certificate of Completion for reimbursement by emailing us.

2. Contact a third-party provider to come to your organization to train employees
  • Contact a local first aid provider in your community

Please Note: COMPASS funding is provided for First Aid/CPR/AED Level C through the Canadian Red Cross. At this time, COMPASS doesn’t provide funding through other first aid providers other than the Canadian Red Cross, or first aid courses that are at a different level (for example, Emergency First Aid or First Aid Instructor courses).

A way to increase the retention of skills learned in First Aid Training is to use these downloadable workplace First Aid poster series.

COMPASS funding is available to SARC Regular and Associate Members, as well as Affiliate Members with CLSD funding.

COMPASS funding will cover 25 of your organization’s employees per fiscal year to take Red Cross Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C certification and/or recertification. The first aid course must be taken through the Canadian Red Cross. 

In order to receive this funding, in the form of a reimbursement to the organization, organizations must: 

  1. Register and pay for up to 25 of their employee(s) to take the full certification or recertification training for first aid. Visit the ‘How to Register’ tab to register your employee(s). 
  2. Send a copy of the paid invoice(s), along with Certificate(s) of Completion, including each employee’s email address, to SARC Learning Central.
    • SARC will reimburse you at the preferred member rate, $104-$140 only.
  3.  Have the employee complete the immediate session evaluation which will be emailed to them.
  4. Have the employee complete the follow-up session evaluation which will be emailed to them.

As a requirement of CLSD COMPASS funding, SARC must report on training satisfaction rates. As a result, we ask that all learners complete individual program evaluations immediately upon finishing any training, as well as within three (3) to four (4) months of completion. Your feedback will also be used to ensure that SARC continues to provide the best training possible.
